Spotlight is on: Student Recognition Ceremony
On Wednesday, May 23, 2007, the annual Student Recognition Ceremony was hosted by Waimea High School and PTSA, WAVE. Pupus were served at 6:00 pm with the ceremony starting promptly at 7:00 pm. Mrs. Koki, WAVE President made introductions and students, Candice Klein and Mark Guirao began the actual role call for the awards. Awards were given to students with perfect attendance, merit awards, honor roll and principal list. Mr. Hamada, District Superintendent, Mr. Arakaki, Mrs. Caberto, and Mr. Arakaki personally congratulated each of the students. There were approximately 300 students honored. Congratulations to all the award winners of WHS.
**Week of May 14-May 19:
Spotlight is on: HHSAA Hawaii State Track & Field events
Congratulations to Chris Newcomb and Bailon Battalion. Chris finished second overall in the state of Hawaii in the high jump. His final jump was 6'4". Bailon finished eighth in the triple jump. These athletes represented Waimea High and the Kauai island with pride and passion for their sport. We are very proud of you.
Spotlight is on: Waimea Awards Assembly
Congratulations to some very special seniors who received scholarships and awards at the annual Awards Assembly held in the WHS gym on Friday, May 18. Many of the Waimea community members were in attendance to honor these graduates as their work of the past four years has rewarded them with money to assist in their financial needs for college.
Spotlight is on: Waimea High Band and Chorus Concert
The WHS band program held their spring concert in the gym at 7:00 pm. on May 17. The band began the festivities with four musical numbers, featuring a vocal accompaniment. The chorus then followed with four songs of their own. Parents, community members, faculty, staff and students enjoyed the special presentation. Congratulations to the musical menehune and all of their hard work. It was very much appreciated.
Spotlight is on: Hawaii State Golf Meet
Congratulations to Noel Torres who finished ninth overall in the HHSAA Hawaii State Golf Meet. He competed against 250 other golfers. Noel represented the menehune well.

Spotlight is on: Waimea High School FRESHMEN TEAMS
Menehune Mingle
The Menehune Mingle was held August 27, 2007 at the Waimea Theater. This event is for the class of 2011 to introduce their parents to their teachers, and to have everyone get the opportunity to "mingle." There was approximately 300 people who came and enjoyed the festivities. A short video of the first few days of freshmen life culminated the program. "Hats off to the planners of this event."
